FAQ: How the boost pressure sensor works
ERIKC Answer: The role of the boost pressure sensor is to detect the intake pressure, and the ECU calculates the intake air flow for injection control.
Electronically controlled diesel engines are almost universally equipped with exhaust gas turbochargers. In order to accurately measure the intake air volume, a boost pressure sensor is provided. It is located on the intake pipe behind the supercharger, and some diesel supercharged pressure sensors integrate the intake air temperature. Sensors, while some diesel boost pressure sensors are separate from the intake air temperature sensors as shown.
The working principle of the supercharging pressure sensor is shown in Fig. 5. The inlet pressure in the intake manifold causes the silicon chip and the piezoresistor to mechanically deform, causing their resistance to change. The Wheatstone bridge loses its balance and passes through the silicon chip. After the upper circuit is processed, a voltage signal that is linear with the intake pressure is formed.
