FAQ: How rail pressure sensors work?
ERIKC Answer: Rail pressure sensor mounted on the common rail, the common rail pressure sensor working principle of a common rail system is substantially the same as a piezoresistive sensor, there are three terminals (power, grounding, signal).
The rail pressure sensor consists of an integrated sensor component welded on the pressure device, a printed circuit board with an electronic detection circuit, and a sensor housing with an electronic plug-in connection.
Fuel flows through a small hole in the common rail to the common rail pressure sensor. The pressurized fuel reaches the sensor diaphragm through a blind hole. A sensor component (semiconductor device) that converts the pressure signal into an electric signal is mounted on the diaphragm, and the signal generated by the sensor is input into a detection circuit for amplifying the picked-up signal and feeding it to the ECU.
